MIC Electronics new LED production unit at Shamshabad

MIC Electronics Ltd on Friday announced plans to expand LED lighting production capability at its Cherlapally facility near here and set up another plant, with an outlay of Rs 180 crore, for lighting division near the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad.

The new production centre for LED lighting products, spread across a 60,000 sq.ft, was inaugurated by Mr Kazuto Miyazaki, Director of Nichia Corporation of Japan, a company known for its innovations in LED segment. This facility announcement comes coinciding with the MIC celebrations of its 25 {+t} {+h} year of operations.

The Chairman and Managing Director of MIC Electronics, Dr M.V.Ramana Rao, in a statement said that the new facility will help the company enhance its production capacity for solar powered lighting products. The company sees opportunities for supply of LED-based lighting in the country.

Mr.Rao said that MIC has launched 102 inch 3 mm and 4 mm LED TVs which are comparable to plasma TVs of the same size offering brightness and viewing pleasure from longer distances. These systems enable day and night visibility and are ideal for applications in auditoriums, airports, railway stations, restaurants and public display zones.

The company announced the introduction of a solar powered street light for usage in the rural areas. This is easy to install and fits into the Government initiatives to spread solar powered lighting under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission that seeks to deploy two-crore rural lighting systems by 2022.
