BPS last date extended to 31st December 2010

The Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD ) department has extended the last date for disposal of Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS) applications till December 31, 2010.

With the latest extension, the scheme, which was to end on November 15, got an extension for the fourth time.

BPS was introduced by the MA & UD department to regularise unauthorised buildings and structures which deviated from the sanctioned plan.

The last date has been extended on the request of Director of Town and Country Planning. The DTCP report said of the 1, 51, 335 BPS applications, excluding the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), 63,764 applications are still pending with municipal corporations and municipalities.

Due to heavy rains, the applicants had not come forward for getting approval of BPS applications, and some multi-storied building applications were pending for want of No Objection Certificate from the fire services department and structural stability certificates from engineers.

The state government GO said the date extension was applicable for disposal of pending BPS applications and no fresh or new applications would be accepted. Source: TOI 24/11/10
